Cheer Videos with Audio from THHS vs J Serra

The freshman cheer team is showing more experience in their routines.  See and listen to these routines performed at the 9/22 game.

Foot Surgery Goes Well

Mom's arthritic toe is finally going to be pain free.  But to get there, some painful recovery is needed first.

Not to worry.  Faithful pal, Twinkie is there to make sure no one bothers her recovery.

Fortunately, the bandage and boot can come off in about 2 weeks.  Hard to believe there are some metal rods in that big toe.

Tough Game for the Mustangs

The freshman Mustangs finally met their match.  After winning the first 3 games, the J Serra Lions came into THHS and dominated with a 46-15 win.  They had two touchdowns off of kickoffs plus two other electrifying long distance plays on offense.

Here's a mix of photos and slow motion video with game highlights.

1 of 2 returns after kickoff.

Just out of reach.

Video:  Backwards pass by the Mustangs.

J Serra also dropped a wide open bomb.

No stopping #44.

Video:  Mustangs try a trick play with a handoff to the receiver who then throws a pass.

Cool helmet logos.

Punting game was off with several short kicks.

Lots of hard hitting by both teams.

Video:  Big play by the Lions.

This turned out to be the final score.

Bees Visit Jardin de Campamento

With the last of the hot days dwindling, local bees are looking for easy sources of sugar.  This hummingbird feeder is their favorite because there are holes big enough for them to crawl into.

These photos show them enjoying their feast.

Two slow motion videos are included that show their how they helicopter themselves onto the target.

It May Sound Corny, but ...

The first tassles just appeared this week on the top of the corn stalks. They are now nearly 5 feet tall.  When the silks start appearing, that's when the pollination beings.  The pollen from the tassles get blown by the wind onto the silks.   Sometimes you can help nature along by removing the tassles and rubbing them on the silks by hand.  We'll see ...

Selena's First Hockey Game ... Sort of

It took an early morning train ride and an invitation from her roommate who is a big hockey fan, but Selena got a chance for two firsts.   Her first trip to the United Center and her first close encounter with NHL Hockey.

It was a scrimmage for the Blackhawks, but the action was real and she got to sit very close to the ice.  She may not know what icing is or why it's called the Stanley Cup, but she's now hooked after seeing the game up close.

Here's some of what she saw.

p.s.

There's a story behind this first photo.  Ask her about it.

Twinkie's Late Night Backrub

This is an oldie but goodie.  Found this while cleaning up some folders.  Twinkie is a reliable greeter after a late flight back.  Nothing makes him feel better than a hello backrub.
