Bird's Eye View of NYC

View of Manhattan Skyline while on final approach into Newark Airport.

It was Sunday and the Manning Bowl.  Met Life Stadium - Broncos vs Giants pregame view.

A small private jet flew underneath on the way to Teterboro Airport.

Spectacular view of uptown.  Selena's dorm is two blocks behind the Citicorp Building (the one with the silver triangular roof).

Midtown Manhattan.   Empire State Building.   New Yorker building and Madison Square Garden (large white round roof) in the foreground.

Downtown Manhattan.  Freedom Tower spire is in place.  1776 feet tall.

Video Tour of Anthony's Room

Unpacking was done early so had a chance to video the room before the roomie's came back.

Move In Day - Boulder

The move into Anthony's dorm room took less than 45 minutes.   Same room as the prior two years. Different roommates and different sleeping arrangement.  Anthony gets the single room this year while the two freshman roomies opted to bunk in the other.  In prior years all 3 beds were in one room while the other became the study and game room.

Luckily Avis upgraded us to a Ford Flex.  Plenty of room for the 7 pieces of luggage plus stuff bought locally.

Anthony knows his away around Sewall Hall, his 3rd year here.

The door opens up to room #1 which is where the roomies bunk.

Another view of the roomies place.

Anthony added another first.  His own TV.  Of course this needed a stand to go with the fan and extra plastic dresser to hold more stuff.

The view from Anthony's bed wall.  The bike belongs to one of the roomies.

Finally unpacking and we were nearly done.

Entrance door is in the roomie's side.  They do have a shared bath in Anthony's side.  And one shared fridge and microwave.

Buffs signs signal a new year.

No Ralphie on campus so his bronze look alike will have to do.

And the trip is complete.  Junior year is underway.

No buffalo sightings on the way to the airport.  But some prairie dogs were spotted along the way.

Video Tour of Selena's Dorm

Here's a short video clip tour of Sel's dorm suite at MMC.

Move In Day - NYC

The transfer from Columbia to Marymount Manhattan is complete.  Move in day finally arrived.

That was one long flight to JFK.  Even a full assortment of dozens of movies and tv shows on the personal entertainment video screen couldn't keep everyone awake.

Once we got a good nights sleep it was off to see the school on the 6 subway train.

Here she is at the main entrance of MMC.

School colors are sky blue and white (and they even have a mascot - the Griffins)

Crossing Third Ave and 55th Street.  Sel's dorm is one half block to the right of the red sculpture.

The Lipstick Building at 53rd and 3rd.  Once the home of Bernie Madoff's offices.

Enough walking.  Time for a ride on the MTA bus to lunch.

Right across the original Madison Square and the Flat Iron building.

Lunch at Mario Batali's Eataly.  An assortment of cheeses and hams.

Apartment 1203 and first glimpse of the room.  Not much of a view and a little odd on the furnishings.  Note the rocking desk chair and the bunk bed over the desk and dresser.

And there's a full 2 1/2 feet of closet space per person!  And no door.

After coming back from lunch it was time for some redecorating.  First came dropping the bed to floor level.

Final chance to say goodbye at the hotel elevator.

Mom and Dad had a chance for a foodie experience at Katz's Deli.  See the circular sign marking the spot where Harry Met Sally filmed the "I'll have what she's having" scene.

Pastrami doesn't get much better than this.
